Glazing bars
Glazing bars are one of the most important decorative elements, allowing precise placement of window joinery within a specific architectural style. A well-designed window division can give a modern loft-style building a contemporary character or emphasize the classical elegance of traditional manor-style architecture. At All Windows Group, we provide solutions that replicate the structural divisions of sashes while maintaining full airtightness and high insulation of modern insulated glass units. Choosing between internal glazing bars and surface-applied models allows balancing between maintenance-free operation and maximum visual realism.

Available thicknesses
The available glazing bars are offered in various widths, allowing precise adjustment of the division proportions to the building style and the character of the joinery. Below we present the available thicknesses of individual models.
GLAZING BARS
Applied on both sides of the glass and complemented with a spacer element inside the unit, they faithfully reproduce the appearance of traditional structural divisions. This solution provides a more spatial and authentic visual effect while maintaining very good performance parameters.
GLAZING BARS
Placed within the space between the panes, they provide a durable and maintenance-free solution. They do not affect the ease of cleaning the glass, while allowing for an эстетhetic division effect. Available in various widths and colours, matched to the joinery or in any selected RAL colour.
Types of glazing bars and window functionality
The decision to use glazing bars should consider not only visual effect but also window cleaning convenience and thermal performance. Each available installation technology offers a different aesthetic and degree of construction complexity.
Durability and convenience: Internal glazing bars
Models permanently installed inside the insulated glass unit, within the interlayer space, are the most popular choice in modern construction.
Aluminum glazing bars with widths of 8, 18, 26, or 45 mm are mounted to the spacer bars, keeping them stable and eliminating rattling when closing the window.
No exposure to external elements ensures that these glazing bars do not fade and require no maintenance, while cleaning the glass itself is as easy as for windows without divisions.
A wide range of colors including RAL shades and wood-like finishes allows the glazing bar color to perfectly match the PVC or aluminum profile.
Visual realism: Vienna-style (surface-applied) glazing bars
For clients seeking authenticity, the best solution is glazing bars applied directly to the glass surface.
-
Duplex variant (with interlayer filling) creates an excellent illusion of structural window division. Inside the unit, precisely under the applied strips, an additional frame prevents empty space from being visible between decorative elements when viewed at an angle.
-
Surface-applied glazing bars without filling provide a cost-effective alternative, giving windows rhythm and depth while remaining visually lighter.
-
Precise geometric alignment of the strips with the window profile ensures aesthetic consistency of the entire construction, which is especially important in heritage building renovations.
FAQ – Frequently asked questions about glazing bars
Any element added inside the insulated glass unit (internal glazing bar) or applied on the glass (Vienna-style glazing bar with duplex) creates an additional linear thermal bridge. In modern All Windows Group systems, however, the reduction in insulation is minimal and generally does not significantly affect the building’s overall energy balance.
The choice depends on the size of the glazing. 18 mm glazing bars look best on small windows and in dense divisions (e.g., English style). 26 mm bars are the most universal standard, while 45 mm glazing bars are usually used in large windows or very thick profiles to maintain proper proportions.
At All Windows Group, we use only professional mounting tapes and seals resistant to extreme temperatures and UV radiation. Correctly installed surface-applied glazing bars remain stable for the entire service life of the window.
The most aesthetic solution is to match the glazing bars exactly to the window frame finish. For internal glazing bars, if the window is two-toned (e.g., anthracite outside, white inside), dual-color bars can be used to match both sides.
It is an aluminum frame inside the insulated glass unit that divides it into smaller sections corresponding to the arrangement of surface-applied glazing bars. This makes the window appear composed of many small, separate panes, which is standard in premium construction and heritage renovations.
